Looking for new ways to stabilize your gut? Or perhaps you are dealing with fissures, hemorrhoids, or fistulas? In this post, we will discuss all the benefits of ozone oils, suppositories, ozone machines and how it comes into play with our bodies and gut health! Let us at Crohn’s & Colitis Lifestyle offer our tips!

How ozone products can help treat IBD!

What is ozone?

Ozone is a gas made up of oxygen molecules. It contains 3 oxygen molecules (O3)

Medical ozone has been used for sanitation and health concerns for over 100 years. Often used to treat wounds to prevent infection. Ozone therapy releases gas onto the desired area of treatment to assist with healing and offer disinfecting properties.

According to research from 2018 when ozone comes into contact with body fluids, the resulting reactions form more proteins and red blood cells. This increases the oxygen supply in your body.”

With this increase in oxygen, the body has a better chance of fighting off pathogens and healing much faster!

Ozone & IBD

Medical therapy of ozone has been known to be:

  • Anti-fungal
  • Anti-viral
  • Anti-bacterial
  • Can increase glutathione levels in the body

The fact that ozone can do all of these things could potentially be helpful for the IBD patient. Why? Because we have found with Crohn’s & Colitis that many of the ‘root’ causes for people are the above issues ie: high viral, bacterial, or fungal loads.

What is PUR03 & Simply03?

We at CCL have linked up with PUR03 and Simply03 as they are a company of integrity and offer incredible ozone products!

PurO3 offers certified organic oils, fully ozonated with rigorous quality control to ensure purity, safety, and preservation of each oil’s therapeutic properties. They offer oils, suppositories, and tooth care!

They are: “Dedicated to improving your skin care, oral health, and body and beauty needs with only natural ingredients.”

Simply03 manufactures high-grade ozone generators for home and professional use. Their selections offer high-quality ozone equipment and accessories.
They state “We understand what it’s like to be failed by conventional methods and feel defeated by a lack of results. Many people have been failed by conventional methods. You feel defeated when you can’t get the results you need.”

What are the uses of PUR03 & Simply03 products?

PUR03

At CCL we love using ozone oils in rectal protocols. They have been used for abscesses, fistula, fissures, and sensitive rectums. The topical use of this is great.

One member uses the coconut oil rectally which has helped with irritation from enemas. It’s great to apply to the tip of the enema bulb and use it as lubrication for enemas.

Also, their suppositories are a nice way to start using ozone or for those who are sensitive individuals, or even people who do not have IBD. The list could go on and on!

We recommend inserting the suppository before bed and keeping it in all night if possible. If you feel you are coming down with something try this at bedtime! It has proven to be a nice way to assist in lowering negative pathogens and ‘nip it in the butt’ so to speak, to a quicker recovery.

Another one of our members uses the oils for nasal and sinus issues. She puts it externally on her sinuses and upper gums (as this product is ok for the mouth) to reach the sinus cavities.

Their tooth products, oil pulling, and pastes are great teeth alternatives, even for dogs (PurO3 Ozonated Sunflower Oil)!

Their oils are good for burns, wounds, body wash, and skincare! They offer a variety of ozonated bases and some with or without fragrances for your personal preference!

Simply03

This is a full-at-home personal ozone machine. So for those who are looking to do a variety of treatments for themselves and their families without paying for expensive treatments, this is a great option!

With an at-home Ozone machine, you can:

  • Use ozone directly for your sinuses
  • Use ozone directly for your ears
  • Use ozone directly for and on your colon/GI tract
  • Create ozonated water
  • Use ozone vaginally

The only treatments that would be difficult to do at home with your unit would be ozone sauna and intravenous ozone where which involves your blood.

Other than that the above treatments are all up for grabs with the correct accessories

We like this kit, as its the most basic Rectal Ozone Kit.

Once you purchase your kit we recommend you book a free consult here with Simply03 to understand how to use your at-home unit effectively and safely!

*Please note that in order to have a fully working ozone unit. You will need the following:

  1. Ozone generator
  2. Oxygen tank or oxygen concentrator (you may need a doctor’s prescription for either of these, which depends on your area ect…) These both supply oxygen to the ozone unit which then creates the ozone through the ozone generator
  3. Ozone accessories for the method of ozone application you prefer (ex: nasal cannula for sinuses or stethoscope which is used for ozone ear treatments) We highly recommend purchasing ozone bags and catheters to use for rectal ozone use.
  4. Oxygen tank regulator or regulator or ozone concentrator. This is required for both options as you need oxygen at certain levels in order to create ozone. These regulators also allow you to adjust the strength of your ozone.

Oxygen concentrator VS Oxygen Tank to supply your machine:

There are pros and cons to using an oxygen tank VS an oxygen concentrator, so see what is available in your area and which will work for your lifestyle.

To learn how to get an oxygen tank read here. And this is the oxygen concentrator one of our members uses.

We carry this oxygen tank in our CCL Amazon store for easy access!

Oxygen Concentrator

If you get an oxygen concentrator, the pros are that you do not have to ever refill an oxygen tank. However, you do need a doctor’s prescription for most concentrators just to purchase them. They can be big in size and require close access to an outlet. You need a regulator for oxygen concentrators to ensure you can easily get oxygen levels low enough to be able to create ozone. We like this oxygen concentrator regulator. The oxygen concentrator you purchase needs to be a low-flow oxygen concentrator in order to create ozone like this one.

Oxygen Tank

These are smaller units usually but do require maintenance to be refilled with oxygen when they run out. You will also need an oxygen tank regulator similar to an oxygen concentrator. You may or may not need a doctor’s prescription for a tank. We have heard of some areas where it’s not required and somewhere it is.

Here is a photo of one of our members and their personal ozone setup. They are using an oxygen tank, ozone generator, and water bubbler to make ozonated water for the treatment of their ears.

If you have questions on what to buy with your personal ozone unit or how to use it, feel free to contact: [email protected]

*Please note that it is best practice to RUN your full machine for at least 5 minutes before you use it. This will help expel nitric oxide from the machine before you use it, so you get the full benefit of ozone.

*Please note that breathing in ozone is dangerous, so please read all the directions fully and take the appropriate precautions.

When running the ozone unit, a few of our members use their machines in the restroom (when no one is in there) so they can run the exhaust fan, open a window and run a fan pointing out to the window so that they are not inhaling the ozone while setting up for treatment or performing a treatment.

Running the machine before operating is important to flush out anything built up in the machine. So you can run it a few minutes in a closed unoccupied bathroom before use.
